Regionalization
The UUA is currently exploring several models by which service delivery to congregations and representation within Associational leadership might be consolidated to save resources and energy.
As a member of the UUA Board Regionalization and Representation Task Force, I helped craft the proposed changes to the UUA Bylaws that will change the way our visionary leadership body is structured and selected. I feel it is essential that we make space for traditionally marginalized communities to have not one, but many seats at the table, even if this means changing the way we envision representation.
I also believe that our current congregational services structure needs to change in order to be more responsive to the rapidly changing needs of our Association's members. Districts all around the Association are already collaborating with their regional neighbors- as evidenced by documents such as the Southeastern conferences' Orlando Platform of last year.
Examining how we might pool our Associational resources to better serve our members is a process has just begun in the CMwD. I encourage this collaboration and would like to see it continued.
